Opening Day Roster

Even though Chip Hale announced his opening day starter in Patrick Corbin a few weeks ago, today he announced who made the big league roster and who will start in the minors. With only one more spring training game to go, we should hope that this regular season will not go the same as the spring training as the team is currently 13-15.

Hale announced the pitching rotation for this season will go as follows, Corbin will be the ace, Hudson to follow, Collmenter, Arroyo and Vidal Nuno will round it out. Jeremy Hellickson will start his 2015 season as the Reno Aces (AAA) Ace. In the bullpen, the big surprise name is Allen Webster, who posted a 0.00 ERA in 9 appearances in spring training.  Archie Bradley nnd Brandon Shipley will be starting in AAA as both had a very rough spring against top talent.

Yasmany Tomas will also be starting his campaign down at AAA Reno. The young third baseman only hit .097 is spring training in 17 games. David Peralta and A.J. Pollock will be splitting lead off duties versus the better sides. Goldschmidt and Trumbo will be 3 and 4 against any pitcher. Cliff Pennington and Aaron Hill will both be sharing time at second base until on one of them stands out. Jake Lamb and Jamie Romak will also be splitting time at third base. Peter O'Brien will be starting at catcher over Ryan Doumit.

The Division will be stacked this year, The Dodgers always have players to compete and dominate the league. The Giants are the defending National Champions and only have one player who left, and seem to have found a valuable replacement in Casey Mcghee. The Padres went out this year and picked up many good players and could easily be considered a contender. The Rockies have the hitters to make a playoff run if the weaker pitching staff can stand up and play better then expected.

Season Predictions:

  • Dbacks finish 4th ahead of Rockies
  • Dbacks go 72-90
  • Mark Trumbo or Cody Ross get traded for younger talent
